So my motor was out of the car and on a dolly made of 2x4s and I guess the oil filter was partly helping the 420a motor from standing on the dolly.. The motor is in the auto now. Half of the bottom of it is pushed in and the sucker won't spiral off. Any suggestions would be of great help.

Thanks.

Screwdriver through it helps but make sure not to hit any of the threads or you'll be replacing the oil filter housing

Cut the condom seal off and so attempt. Once you lot get those off in that location is usually almost nothing keeping it from coming off.

Strap or concatenation wrench works wonders as well to free upwardly stuck spin-on filters. I apply a leather strap wrench to spin off my filters.

I've done the screwdriver trick and if the filter is really stuck on, you'll only tear up the outer casing of the filter so 'expert luck' finding something to catch that twisted upwardly sheet metal.

In my opinion; the best fashion to remove a stuck oil filter would be to only use oil filter pliers. grab it near 1/4 inch away from the base and get a good grip. The pliers themselves beat out the filter but simply enough to become a expert hold of it.

Prob with that big guy cranking downwardly on a filter is he prob squished the gasket on the filter pretty bad where yous actually needed that piping wrench to bust that thing loose.

Unsafe places to practice oil changes. I compassion the poor souls that become at that place for service piece of work.

I ever say if you need a new engine, go your oil changed at Walmart. They're notorious for leaving drain plugs out.

If y'all can't get a leather belt or strap-wrench, practice this. Do information technology as shut to the bottom of the filter as possible.

I always say if you need a new engine, become your oil changed at Walmart. They're notorious for leaving bleed plugs out.

Haha That's pretty good.

Anyways thanks gents, I'll endeavor some of your ideas when I become habitation today and let you know how it goes. I've modify oil filters dozens and dozens of times merely since this one is pretty damn shell and VERY stubborn I just wanted to consult others who've had like issues before going to extreme lengths to take it off, just and so I don't hurt the housing or something.

Thank you again.

If you utilise a screwdriver, only be certain to push it all ths fashion though the filter,so that the screwdriver comes out the other side, then turn the filter. Oherwise you volition just tear the filter autonomously, then y'all volition be trying to get the filter out with jagged edges all over that will tear your hands up. If that hapoens, just get a strap or concatenation, get a pivot point and crank on it. One time you get the filter off makr certain the safe band from the erstwhile filter is off too before you put on the new filter. Chances are that the filter was overly tightened and the ring will be chillin on the ofh,and if so it will leak like a mofo when y'all put the new filter on.
